I hope you had a lovely weekend. We were in Nova Scotia and the fall colours were ablaze. I did not feel like going to restaurants but luckily we had some scallops that a neighbour had given us. His friend is on a scallop boat so they are the real deal. So delicious when cooked in a bit of butter. I spent most of the weekend resting and reading, which was much needed after the busyness of back to school, followed by an early Thanksgiving.
Here is what’s working for me this month:
The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters is terrific and proves that you just don’t know what goes on behind closed doors no matter how glamorous the outside picture.
If you are starting to think about holiday shopping, I think the book-themed totes and tees from Literary Books Gifts are very cute (The Velveteen Rabbit tote is lovely.) The owner, Melissa, has a background in design and loves literature. She started her business because she thought book covers on totes and shirts make for great conversation starters, and they help to spread the love of literature. I’m trying out Christophe Robin’s toning mask to cool down my blonde and blend it better into my natural colour. So far, so good.
I’ve become a big fan of Vetiver essential oil. It smells odd (very earthy) but if’s great for pain. And Frankincense and Elemi are total cure-alls. So good. And I love the scent. If you want to understand more about oils, my pal Sherry has been trained in their use.
If you have Netflix, October Kiss is a winner. It’s a Hallmark movie and it’s gentle and perfect for the season. And Ashley Williams is always adorable as a lead.
I’m in love with RMS Lip2Cheek in Beloved as a blush. It gives you that just-took-a-brisk-fall-walk flush and it doubles as a lip stain. Winner winner.
Is there anything cozier that a sweater dress? My favourite it a cashmere one from Brora I bought on sale two years ago. I plan to put it into rotation soon and if the moths have had a go at it, I will come after them like a fury!
I love Three Cats and a Broom room sprays since they are not filled with any toxic yuck. Fairy Spray is my current favourite and I’ve loved London Fog in the past.
The latest issue of Victoria Magazine is fabulous. I get every issue (and have since the start) but I particularly like the fall through Christmas issues. I plan to pull the decorating of my next house from its pages.
I’m a terrible eater and, most days, lunch is just a piece of cheese. I’ve taken to eating Amy’s Broccoli and Cheddar Bake Bowl for something easy to grab that sneaks in a bit of vegetable. Plus, it’s soooo tasty.
What’s been working for you this month?
